This past Saturday, Warren and I ventured across the Delaware River to Cherry Hill, NJ to take in the new James Marsden and Cameron Diaz film, THE BOX. That was a mistake seeing how the film turned out to be horrible, absolutely horrible. We didn't know much about the movie beforehand, other than thinking the previews looked really-really brilliant...boy were we mistaken. THE BOX is based on the 1979 short story BUTTON, BUTTON and is directed by DONNIE DARKO mastermind Richard Kelly. I walked away from that movie the same way I walked away from THE BOX on Saturday: very confused and angry because I was so confused and had just wasted $12 bucks on a movie ticket. I won't bore you with the plot, I'll let Kirk Honeycutt over at The Hollywood Reporter due that for you. I just want to know one thing, how did Kelly get the money to make this movie?! [THR]
