AUSTIN REGIONAL CLINIC SPEAKS OUT ON DOCTOR'S CONTRIBUTION TO "YES ON 8"

Following in the footsteps of Dell, another business featured on our "Austin Anti-Gay Blacklist" has issued a public statement.  Austin Regional Clinic left us a lengthy comment which makes it very clear that the beliefs of Dr. Carlos Romero are not reflective of their organization as a whole.  Based on their actions, we have removed ARC from the list, while leaving just Dr. Carlos Romero there.

We are a homegrown, local group of physicians and staff. We are over 1300 individuals with families and we are your neighbors.

It is unfortunate that any local group would encourage a boycott of such a strong supporter of the community because of the views of one individual. We look forward to providing all individuals with the quality health care that we have provided to the community since 1980 and want to emphasize that we always have and continue to hire staff and care for patients regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, mental or physical disabilities, or sexual orientation.

I am glad that the top brass at ARC made this statement. I have a great primary care physician at ARC and I would not look for another doctor unless I had to. However, this past summer I had a foot problem and saw Dr. Carlos Romero. I will look for another podiatrist in the future. I'm tempted to call the office and let them know why I will not see Dr. Romero again.

Thank you for providing the "blacklist." Now I'll know what individuals to give my business to. You see, this works both ways. Just as you can boycott a specific company, I can send my business their way. Just remember that there are more of us than there are of you. Enough said.
