STRIKE LOOMS OVER ACTORS' UNION
Remember last fall when we had to endure the writers' strike and the lack of good television programming that came with it. Well, another Hollywood strike might be looming, and this time it's the Screen Actors Guild which is threatening to turn the television and film industries upside down. some of the disagreements are coming from within the union itself as "Hollywood-based leaders rejected a call by SAG's New York branch to bring a federal mediator to break a deadlock in contract talks with major studios". This is not good news for an industry that is just now catching up from a damaging writers strike, nor is it good for the new television season that kicks off in a few short weeks. [News Daily]
After the jump, check out what Will Smith has to say about a potential strike.
Will Smith
With the writers' strike and Hollywood having been through this already this year and having lost millions of dollars, [an actors' strike] just really not a good time for America, for California, or for a lot of people I know and work with. I hope we can come to a resolution all sides are happy with before it comes to that again. If it has to happen, I hope it moves rapidly. But the economy is terrible and we don't need to be contributing to it.
